The Better Part of Me...

The Day I Became a Slug
2003-05-05 @ 1:57 p.m.

Thankfully I do not hate myself today. I know that I did, indeed, miss an incredibly good time in Madison this past weekend, but I also know that even if I had been there to enjoy it, I probably wouldn't have really enjoyed it and I would have been pissed that those assholes didn't let me go to bed at 9 p.m. like I wanted to.

I'm still kinda sickly. I have a cough and a drippy nose. It's one of the least aggressive colds that I've ever had I think, but I am a little worried that it'll get in the way of the surgery I'm scheduled for on Thursday, so I'm still trying to pamper myself to death. I am off to the store after work to pick up some OJ and chicken soup and Vitamin C and Zinc lozenges.

It turned dreary and rainy and cold here yesterday. I was not outside of my house for more than 8 minutes the entire day and did indeed spend the vast majority of the day curled up on the couch with a book, some nummy spice cupcakes, and the remote control. I watched so much TV yesterday, it should really be illegal. Not only have I now seen almost every episode of Trading Spaces and What not to Wear on TLC, but I'm also all caught up on the craptastic spectacular that are Sorority Life & Fraternity Life on MTV. Also? Real World/Road Rules Challenge. And when that started to delve into episodes I've already seen, I switched over to the E! Channels True Hollywood story and was lucky enough to stumble across the one on "Saved by the Bell" (yay!) and after that "The Brat Pack" (yay!).

Seriously? TV overload. At one point after approximately 5 and a half hours of straight couch sitting, I started to feel nauseous. I jumped up and stretched my legs and arms and did a couple of vigorous twists in an effort to re-energize the blood flow throughout my body - and then settled back in for the continued gluttonous visual marathon.

And I'm STILL coughy/drippy. Go figure. Fucking body.

Listening To: Pussy Control. It's Oliver's new favorite song.

Shut up.

Still Reading: The craptacular Belva Plain Novel. I may as well finish it - even though I think it's poorly written.

Recently Saw: In addition to all the shows listed in the entry above - I managed to see Swimfan on Friday night. It.is.bad. SO bad. Like, I cannot even begin to describe how utterly horrid the movie is. BAD bad. It's a shame too, because I like Jesse Bradford normally (that is to say, I was a fan of him in "Bring it On"). What can I say though? Swimfan? The acting is horrible. The story is horrible. It's not scary and not even believable. It's just a sad...sad movie.

I was a huge fan of the so-called nerd in the story though. That would figure.

I also saw "The Four Feathers" which I was excited about because...Heath Ledger & Wes Bentley, yo. It was, compared to Swimfan, quite good. On it's own though - it kind of felt like every other historical wartime story in...ever. So it was watchable, but I wasn't overly excited about it.
